KANNFINCH undertook a review of an existing master plan on this 5.5 hectare site in Sydney’s Canterbury / Bankstown area. Our aim was to densify the scheme, creating a four storey public domain, while increasing the amenity and providing a strong sense of place. With this in mind, one of the key initiatives was the incorporation of a new public space in the form of a ‘village area’. This public space forms the dual purpose of acting as the primary stormwater retention area for the development.
The final scheme includes approximately 100,000sqm of gross floor area, comprising 558 residential apartments, 2260sqm of retail space, and over 4500sqm of commercial space.
Sustainability initiatives incorporated into the design include stormwater retention, green space, narrow building forms allowing the design of naturally ventilated apartments, and the integration of residences with facilities and services encouraging a localised pedestrian community.
