KANNFINCH were engaged for the interior design of the ISIS Canberra office with a clear brief to display the companies ideals in a sustainable, functional and collaborative environment.
Collaboration, along with energy and enthusiasm are a large part of ISIS approach to their staff, their clients and their sub-contractors. Planning is centred on a recreational “plaza” with perimeter workspaces offering both natural light and panoramic Canberra bushland views as you move around the office.
A sculptural timber/ glass detailed wall separates the plaza and workstations which forms the key visual element within the fit-out. The complex detailing and construction of this acoustically controlled, demountable screen showcases the abilities of the Client as “builder” beyond plasterboard office partitions. Large pivoting doors allow the boardroom and meeting rooms to extend into the breakout area for use as collaborative open space and events.
The result is a functional, energetic, experiential space; enjoyable for staff, and memorable for visitors. The design clearly articulates ISIS culture and aims of “transformation” while being functional and very clever.
